The thirds mat be missing a corner or have a defect that will affect one corner, but they are still functional horse but and have all been logo branded. If you purchase a scrap piece it will be one or two pieces that will close to or more then one strop worth of leather (square inches). None of them are big enough to get a 3X8 chunk out of to make a full-sized strop, but I do not want to throw them out. You can see in the picture the average size of the scraps. I will normally keep the block on my bench to lubricate planes and saws as needed. Each block is about 3 oz of wax and comes wrapped in wax paper. So you can grab the puck of wax and rub it directly on the steel. This wax is also food safe so you could use it as a finish for cutting boards and the like thought it will need heat from rubbing with a polisher or heat gun to work it down into the wood.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eThe Soft wax is made from two parts Bees Wax, two parts Home Made Boiled Linseed Oil, and one part mineral spirits (White Spirits). They come in about 4 oz containers. You can wipe on a surface, let it harden, and then polish off the rest. I use this for furniture and the final shine for most finishes. Often, for hand tools, I will use this after a couple of coats of BLO, and it has a fantastic wood feel when done. Due to the thinner, I would not consider this food safe.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eSome pucks fo the hard wax may have darker flecks on the bottom. This is wax that was slightly overcooked. It does not affect performance or use. This wedge will allow you to plane with a higher angle and still use your chipbreaker without having to buy a whole new frog. The installation is fairly simple and can be done in a few minutes. We also include a set of longer screws as every casting is a bit different. and a second set to connect the frog to the wedge. This will give you options so you can choose between easier pushing of the lower angle and the controlled cut of the higher angle. If you find this is the case on yours, you can grind the slot a bit bigger to match the bearing thickness.
