The bearing is 4mm thick, but we have found a small variance in some of the Lie Neilsen irons. And in one instance, the slot in the iron was slightly too small to house the bearing. If you find this is the case on yours, you can grind the slot a bit bigger to match the bearing thickness. If you find this to be the case on your plane and you do not wish to make modifications, we will gladly issue a refund for the purchase price once received back in an unused condition.
